Road Trip Safety

It’s that time of year again to pack up the family car and head out on a road trip. Whether you are planning to go on a cross-country journey or a short weekend getaway, here are some important road trip safety tips to remember while you are on the road.

  1. Be sure to get enough rest. Studies have shown that driving while fatigued can be just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. So before embarking on a voyage, get a good night’s rest and take plenty of breaks along the way.
  1. Share driving responsibilities. It has been said in many-a-country-song that two is better than one – and that could not be truer while taking a road trip. Take driving turns to get caught up on rest and help each other to keep an extra set of eyes on the road.
  1. Bring a detailed map or road atlas. It’s happened to the best of us – you almost reach your destination, and your GPS no longer receives its satellite signal causing you to lose precious time asking a local for directions. Do yourself a favor and bring a hard copy map with you for those just-in-case scenarios.
  1. Also consider bringing a road trip safety kit with you that includes a first aid kit and jumper cables.

We at Carter Chevrolet wish all of our readers a safe and healthy road trip season wherever your journeys may take you.
