Traveling Soon? Tips on Road Trip Safety
It’s that time of year again to pack up the family car and head out on a road trip. Whether you are planning to go on a cross-country journey or a short weekend getaway, here are some important road trip safety tips to remember while you are on the road.
- Be sure to get enough rest. Studies have shown that driving while fatigued can be just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. So before embarking on a voyage, get a good night’s rest and take plenty of breaks along the way.
- Share driving responsibilities. It has been said in many-a-country-song that two is better than one – and that could not be truer while taking a road trip. Take driving turns to get caught up on rest and help each other to keep an extra set of eyes on the road.
- Bring a detailed map or road atlas. It’s happened to the best of us – you almost reach your destination, and your GPS no longer receives its satellite signal causing you to lose precious time asking a local for directions. Do yourself a favor and bring a hard copy map with you for those just-in-case scenarios.
- Also consider bringing a road trip safety kit with you that includes a first aid kit and jumper cables.
We at Carter Chevrolet wish all of our readers a safe and healthy road trip season wherever your journeys may take you.
