New 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 Gets Updated “Flowtie”
If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to lay your eyes on the all-new 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28, the perfectly-crafted performance car that has swept auto news by storm and has been a field-day topic for engineers. And now, the Z/28 is getting yet another improvement—the so-called “Flowtie.” We raised an eyebrow when we first heard that term, too; don’t worry.
The Chevy Flowtie is an upgrade of the iconic Chevy Bowtie emblem, dropping the inside center of the badge so all is left is the outline. It is said by Chevy engineers that the Flowtie will to help to increase air flow and cool the Z/28’s engine. It doesn’t seem like that would do much, but just that one upgrade allows three additional cubic meters of air into the engine per minute, and drops the temperatures of the coolant and oil by two degrees Fahrenheit. Check it out here:
There’s no doubt that a racer’s intuition and experience had to have gone into this seemingly simple discovery. Whatever it was, it makes the Chevy Camaro Z/28 that much more unique. Think you’re ready for this car? You’ll be able to find it in dealerships this spring!
