Living in Okarche has the great benefit of a small town feel, yet we’re close enough to Oklahoma City to enjoy the amenities of the big city. With Halloween right around the corner, fall festivals, haunted houses, and other activities are easy to come by. Here are a few halloween activities near Okarche.

Family-friendly activities:

• Visit Pumpkinville at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City. Here you can explore the Children’s Garden and see it decked out in fall splendor with 3,000 pumpkins and Halloween decorations. Open until 6 pm Sun.-Thurs. and 7 pm Friday and Saturday. Check their calendar to see what activities are scheduled.
• Frontier City in Oklahoma City gets decorated for Halloween with Fright Fest. Spend the day riding the roller coasters with your family and then see the park transform into a spooky place after sundown. Your kids can bring their costumes and head to the Trick-or-Treat Trail or you can head to the pumpkin patch for pumpkin carving.

Scary activities:

• If you’re looking for some terrifying thrills, check out the Haunted Barn in nearby El Reno. It is open from dusk until 10:30 pm October 25, 26, and 31.
• For scares of a different sort, try Haunt the River in Oklahoma City. This boat takes you on a spooky tour down the Oklahoma River. Guests are encourage to dress in costume and it is intended for adults only. The boat departs at 8:00 pm on October 25 and 26.
