General Motors Releases New, More Efficient Ecotec Engines
If you already own a Chevrolet car, truck, or SUV, or any other vehicle from the General Motors lineup, you’re probably familiar with the current line of powerful, yet sophisticated Ecotec engines. If you’re new to the game, don’t worry. General Motors has recently announced its newest lineup of efficient Ecotec engines built with a more modular design, which will allow ease of manufacturing and better adaptability to international markets.
Though the newest bunch of Ecotec engines will first make their appearance in the Opel Adam and Chevy Cruze tailored only to China, we can expect to see more than 2.5 million Ecotec engines make their way in 27 different models worldwide (including the U.S.) by 2017, says GM.
“The new Ecotec architecture represents the most advanced and efficient family of small-car gas engines in GM’s history,” says GM Global Chief Engineer, Tom Sutter. The new Ecotec line will feature 11 different engines available in both three and four-cylinder variants ranging from 1.0-liter to 1.50-liter versions.
Wondering about the benefits of the new line of Ecotecs? Better fuel efficiency and much quieter. We think they’ll be a hit not just in the U.S., but worldwide… just what GM was after!
