Corvette Stingray Named “Most Made in America”

April 25th, 2014 by

corvette-stingray The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was determined to be the most “Made in America” car, tying with the Ford F-150, and it really is hard to think of two more American vehicles. The Chevrolet Traverse came in second place, tying with the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia.

This study is conducted annually by American University’s Kogod School of Business. Frank DuBois uses data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and ranks 318 new models based on the design, location of manufacturer’s headquarters, research and manufacturing facilities, and where the profits go once the vehicle is sold.

According to Consumer Reports National Research Center, 80% of Americans would prefer to purchase an American made, domestic vehicle, which GM works hard to provide. And speaking of selling Chevrolet Corvettes, the first 2015 Corvette Z06 was recently put up for auction to the highest bidder.

As no surprise, Rick Hendrick, the owner of NASCAR and avid Corvette collector, ended up bidding $1 million for the American-made beauty. He purchased last year’s Corvette Stingray Convertible for the same amount.
