Chevrolet Driver Assurance: Fix A Problem Before It’s A Problem
For a lot of us, the only indication that anything is wrong with our vehicles is the “Check Engine” light. We are all familiar with that sinking feeling we got as soon as the light flashes on. Part of the anxiety is that by the time the light comes on, something could have already failed.
This may no longer be the case if you drive a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette or Silverado. GM is on the brink of releasing a technology that will do a whole lot more than illuminate a small light on the instrument panel. Gizmodo says, rather colorfully, that the new Chevrolet Driver Assurance will be like “having a psychic under the hood of your car, minus the crystal ball.” In other words, OnStar will be able to alert the owner of a possible failure before the component fails, decreasing your chances of being stranded.
At the moment, the systems that will be under watchful eye are the battery, starter and fuel pump. Thankfully, GM plans to add more and more components to the list in the future.
Technology is a wonderful thing, and it’s exciting to think of what GM will up with next!
