Chevrolet Crash-Avoidance Technology: Almost Like X-Ray Vision

Technology helps us to overcome those limitations that sometimes seem insuperable. For instance, to achieve any degree of visibility when backing up an automobile, it would seem like a person would need X-ray vision to penetrate through the back-seats and chassis to see what’s really going on.

Until genetic science allows for X-ray vision, the most expedient way to illuminate that secret area would be to hook up a camera and send the feed to the rear-view mirror. Drive a Chevrolet Malibu, Impala or even Corvette, this is exactly what you’ll get.

The coolest part is that since this feature is only most helpful when in reverse, the rear-view mirror only turns into a camera monitor when the Cruze is in reverse. Put it back in drive and the rearview mirror again becomes a mirror.

That’s not the only trick that occurs when you throw the shifter in reverse! Another nifty component of Chevrolet crash-avoidance technology is what’s called a “radar cross-traffic alert system.” It uses two radars to detect cross-traffic up to 65 feet away and issues alerts when you are in danger.
