After 33 Years Detroit Man Reunited with His Stolen Corvette
After 33 years, George Talley, of Detroit, has finally been reunited with his stolen Corvette.
In 1981, Talley parked the 1979 Chevrolet Corvette on Jefferson St. and returned later to an empty parking space. Now, 33 year later, he got a call from AAA telling him his car had been found in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
“It was a lucky day to hear that my car had been found,” said Talley, in a press release. “They told me it was running, had 47,000 miles on it and was ready for me to pick up!”
However, getting the car from Mississippi to Detroit wouldn’t be free. GM executive Mark Reuss heard Talley’s story and offered to ship the Corvette back to Detroit for him. Then, Talley got to see his beloved ’79 Corvette for the first time in over 30 years at GM Headquarters.
Check out this video from the Detroit Free Press to see the excited Talley start it up and hear that familiar Corvette engine roar.
