Conversely, the 2024 Kia Sorento is a little smaller. You may find its third row to be unsuitable for adults. This is also why the 2024 Sorento’s maximum capacity is seven, while the 2024 Traverse can seat up to eight occupants.

An 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard. Buyers can also opt for an X-Pro trim with some enhancements for mild off-roading.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse can tow up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with the Trailering Package. This package adds a 220-amp alternator, a heavy-duty cooling system, and a Hitch View to the vehicle’s exterior camera system. Meanwhile, the 2024 Kia Sorento is only rated to pull up to 4,000 pounds, depending on the trim chosen.
Every 2024 Chevy Traverse comes with plenty of safety features. All trims include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and pedestrian and cyclist detection. There’s also lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind zone steering assist and intersection automatic emergency braking are also included.
Higher trims can be equipped with GM’s SuperCruise hands-free driving assistance system. The 2024 Sorento isn’t as well-equipped, as many of these features are unavailable or optional.
