2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray to Pace the Indianapolis 500
“The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” just got a little more spectacular, as Chevrolet has announced the 2014 Corvette Stingray will act as pace car for the 97th Indianapolis 500.
The anticipation leading up to the unveiling of the seventh generation Corvette was as high as it has been for any vehicle in recent memory, and now enthusiasts will get to see it in action as it leads the field to green at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 26th.
“It is an honor to help inaugurate the all-new Corvette Stingray at the hallowed Brickyard and further the legacy between Chevrolet and the Indianapolis 500,” said Jim Campbell, GM vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “The 2014 Corvette Stingray’s performance was influenced by racing, making this prestigious assignment even more fitting.”
No modifications are needed for the 2014 Corvette Stingray to stay in front of the pack of elite Indy race cars, as it is powered by Chevy’s famed LT1 6.2-liter V8 engine. The 2014 Stingray is able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under four seconds thanks to the 450 horsepower produced by the historic V8.
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will arrive this fall at Carter Chevy in Okarche, OK. We will post pricing and availability information for the 2014 Corvette Stingray online, at http://www.carterchevroletok.com/, once it is released.
