Dare to Compare: 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs. Ram 1500
The best thing going in the truck world wears a bowtie. We’d never call the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a Poindexter or give it a swirly (it’d be pretty hard to lift for swirly purposes tbh), but we’ll happily acknowledge that it sure is smart. Smarter than the 2021 Ram 1500 — and cooler to boot! It’s a real paradox, that Silverado.
Better Multifunction Tailgate
The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500 both offer multifunction tailgates. But multifunction in Ram’s case seems to mean two. It can be a tailgate, or its doors can swing open. Chevrolet can top that three-fold with the new Multi-Flex Tailgate.
The Multi-Flex Tailgate makes doing all kinds of truck stuff all kinds of easier. This smart tailgate offers six unique settings to work with: Primary Gate, Primary Gate Load Stop, Easy Access, Full-Width Step, Inner Gate Load Stop, and Inner Gate with Work Surface. Seriously, you need to see this thing in action to believe it. And you can see it where else but Carter Chevy in Okarche.
A Big, Bad V8
One thing that the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has that the Ram doesn’t: the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8. This mighty, massive V8 puts Ram and its HEMI to shame with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, annihilating both HEMIS and their max 395 horses and 410 lb-ft of torque.
That also translates to better towing, which means you can count on the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 to come up bigger in the clutch. With this V8, the Silverado can tow up to 13,300 pounds.* That’s a full 1,000 pounds (and then some) more than the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with eTorque.
When it comes right down to it, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is brainer, brawnier, and more beautiful than the Ram 1500. That’s right: beautiful. We’re not afraid to say it. Get in touch with your feelings when you check out the new Silverado at Carter Chevrolet in Okarche.

Before you buy a vehicle or use it for trailering, carefully review the Trailering section of the Owner’s Manual. The weight of passengers, cargo and options or accessories may reduce the amount you can tow.
