If you’ve been watching the full-size Chevys, 2027 isn’t a redesign — it’s a smart round of updates on top of the major refresh these SUVs got in 2025. The big-ticket items are a new color, more ways to get Super Cruise, and a few features moving to standard. Here’s what actually changed, in plain English, and what it means when you’re picking one.
For 2027, Chevrolet made Super Cruise available with the 3.0L Duramax diesel on most Tahoe and Suburban trims (the off-road Z71 is the exception). Previously the hands-free system and the diesel were hard to get together. Now you can have the diesel’s efficiency and long range plus hands-free highway driving in the same truck.
This is the change we’re most excited about for Oklahoma drivers, and it’s a genuine one. Super Cruise is Chevy’s hands-free driver-assistance system that works on compatible mapped highways — a real fatigue-reducer on long, flat interstate runs. The Duramax diesel is the efficiency and range champion of the lineup. For 2027, you can finally get both in the same truck on most trims, which used to be a frustrating either/or. On a long haul to the Panhandle or down I-35, that combination is hard to beat.

The 2027 Tahoe and Suburban keep their three engines (5.3L V8, 6.2L V8, and 3.0L Duramax diesel), the 10-speed automatic, the 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, the available 15-inch head-up display, three-row seating for up to nine, and towing up to 8,400 pounds properly equipped. The strong 2025-refresh foundation is unchanged.
None of the good stuff went anywhere. All three engines return: the 5.3L V8 (355 hp), the 6.2L V8 (420 hp), and the 3.0L Duramax diesel (305 hp, 495 lb-ft), each on the 10-speed automatic. The big 17.7-inch screen, the available 15-inch head-up display, the trailering tech, and seating for up to nine all carry forward. With the diesel, Chevrolet quotes strong full-size efficiency and a highway range around 575 miles in rear-wheel drive.
Both get the same 2027 updates. The difference is size: the Suburban is longer, so it carries more behind the third row and gives rear passengers more room. The Tahoe is a bit easier to park and maneuver. Here’s the cargo split.

If you regularly load cargo behind a full third row, look hard at the Suburban. If you want full-size capability that’s a little easier to live with day to day, the Tahoe fits.
