Performance Comparison

One of the Tahoe’s signature features has been that it always offers a V-8 beneath the hood for buyers who desire it. The 2023 Tahoe is no different, with a choice of two V-8s to pick from. The smaller one comes in at 5.3 liters and develops 355 horsepower. On the other hand, the larger one measures 6.2 liters and delivers 420 horsepower. There’s also a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder turbodiesel with 277 horsepower. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard across the range.

Rear-wheel-drive is the default drive configuration on the 2023 Tahoe, but you can spec an all-wheel-drive system if desired. You can also choose the off-road-oriented Z71 package. This includes a two-speed transfer case, underbody protection, air springs, adjustable dampers, and off-road tires.

The 2023 Sequoia only comes as a hybrid, which sees a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 coupled to an electric motor for a system total of 437 horsepower. This is sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. Part of the reason that the 2023 Sequoia has such poor cargo space is that the 1.87-kilowatt-hour hybrid battery eats into trunk space, and you can’t opt out either. This is because the previous gasoline V-8 option from the 2022 model is no longer offered.

Safety Features Comparison

The 2023 Tahoe and 2023 Sequoia are extremely safe. The SUVs come with at least eight airbags, stability control, brake assist, automated emergency braking, child safety locks, daytime running lamps, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
